SILICONE BOLUS

Silicone Bolus is used in radiation therapy where a patient requires full prescription dose on the skin surface. The pBolus acts as a tissue equivalent material, placed on the patient skin to account for the build-up region of the treatment beam. There are currently a variety of different Bolus materials in use throughout Australia including thermoplastic sheets, pellets and gel slabs (Superflab).

The Shore 00 30 hardness of 3D One’s silicone bolus allows conformal application to the patient’s skin eliminating air gaps.

Literature reports that 3D printing allows the fabrication of tissue equivalent bolus of detailed volumetric structures defined on the CT image data. This results in the possibility for Silicone bolus to be made for complex shapes fitting closely to the patient’s skin in a reproducible fashion.

 PATIENT CUSTOMISED SILICONE BOLUS

The 3D One Silicone Bolus is designed and made based on a patient's CT scan data, using high-quality prosthetic-grade silicone. This approach ensures exceptional spatial precision, eliminating any undesirable air gaps and surpassing existing proprietary alternatives by a significant margin.

At 3D One, we have implemented a manufacturing process distinguished by its remarkable accuracy. This process enables the on-demand production of custom Silicone Bolus solutions tailored to individual patient needs, thereby enhancing the precision and effectiveness of personalised treatment regimens.
